Develop, License and Acquire Technology
Hanwei manufactures and sells FRP pipes for the oil industry, is developing a line of components for pollution control systems for the coal industry and has recently entered the market for wind power products.
World Class Products and Manufacturing Capabilities
The Company's FRP pipes are manufactured with Glassfiber Reinforced Epoxy ("GRE") that strengthens the pipes to a point where they are able to withstand more than 10 times pressure than standard FRP pipe. For certain applications, the Company's products are more resistant to corrosion, longer lasting, less expensive to install, and more efficient when compared with steel pipes. The Company has improved upon purchased equipment and has patented the innovative production techniques and equipment.
Harvest, which is 91.075% owned by Hanwei, has an industry leading quality control system that is supported by state-of- the-art testing equipment. The Company's product related design, testing methodologies, quality control, packaging, delivery and installation have met international standards set forth by renowned standard setting organizations such as the American Petroleum Institute (API), American Society of Testing Materials (ASTM), Society of the Plastic Industry (SPI), American Water Works Association (AWWA) and the related standards of Chinese oil and gas industry. Specifically, the Company has achieved the API SPECQ1, API 15HR and the ISO 9001:2000 certifications.
Patented Technology
The Company has developed significant proprietary technology and thirteen Chinese patents concerning the design, manufacturing and testing of high-pressure FRP pipes. In January 2005, the Company also received multiple awards from the China Building Material Industry Association for technical innovations in the field of high pressure FRP pipe designs and facilities for "fulfilling a void in China
and providing products of advanced
international standards."
The proprietary and recognized technology and expertise is a direct result of the Company's research and development program and has provided the Company with a distinctive competitive advantage that is difficult to challenge. The Company's high-pressure FRP pipes can withstand more than 10 times that of regular FRP pipes. This is due to the inclusion of GRE in the production process. In addition, with patents covering enhanced production equipment and techniques, the Company is able to manufacture higher quality FRP pipes at lower costs.
Develop, License and Acquire Technology to Expand Energy Products and Services Beyond FRP
Hanwei plans to leverage its expertise and relationships in the FRP and Chinese energy sector by offering its customers a wider scope of energy products and services. In order to reduce time to market and maximize the value of its customer and industry relationships, the Company plans to acquire and license technologies from other companies. In addition, the Company is seeking joint-venture arrangements with companies that have proprietary energy products and services. Many international energy services companies are looking for a way to enter the China market and Hanwei believes that it can attract partners due to the expertise and track record of its management team.
